Our journey begins as we drive slowly through the city centre, for nowhere does the real flavor of Maryborough’s heritage linger so strongly than amongst the old buildings, pubs and picturesque streets.

Visit the Military Trail and Memorial Walk, taking visitors on the journey of the ANZAC’S, from Anzac Cove at Gallipoli through to the Western Front theatres.

Learn about early life in Queensland at the Portside Centre, located in the historic Wharf Street Precinct.

This area of Maryborough was once the site of its original port district, now a unique heritage precinct, with museums, cafes, art gallery, beautiful riverside parklands and steam train rides.

Visit, The Bond Store Museum, a former store for customs, here discover a time when opium was legal and the rum trade flourished.

Next door at the Customs House, hear stories of immigrants who came from afar.

The Military and Colonial Museum is regarded as one of the most significant military museums outside the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

See Gataker’s Art Space, a stunning cultural centre in Maryborough’s oldest surviving commercial building.

Just behind Wharf Street. is the Mary River Parklands and Queen’s Park Botanic Gardens, one of the oldest Botanic Gardens in Australia!

Enjoy a ride through the parklands, on the steam train, the Mary Ann, a replica of Queensland’s first steam engine, built in Maryborough in 1873.

Leaving Portside, tour past some of the beautifully restored buildings and houses, including City Hall, built in 1908 and several magnificent old Queenslander homes.

Visit the Croydon Foundry Museum, providing a valuable insight into one of Maryborough’s major industries.

See the Kanuka Memorial, Ululah Lagoons Water bird Sanctuary, and inspect Brennan and Geragthy’s Store, listed with the National Trust it features a huge array of old grocery items long since forgotten and memorabilia of yesteryear.

The day concludes with a visit to the unique Wookoo Park, where sculptures of native animals will reveal a story of nearby Woocoo district.
